Michel Vorm is expecting to stay at Swansea City and compete with Lukasz Fabianski for a starting berth, with there no offers on the table for his services at present.

Speculation regarding Vorm’s future at the Liberty Stadium had begun to circulate prior to the arrival of Fabianski on a four-year contract from Arsenal.

Given that the Polish goalkeeper had opted to leave Emirates Stadium as a free agent in search of regular game time, he will be expecting to figure for Garry Monk’s plans next season.

Vorm is, however, the number one choice at present and is widely considered to be among the most reliable shot-stoppers in the Premier League.
His consistency has drawn admiring glances from afar, with Liverpool among those said to be keen, but the Holland international claims he has heard nothing to suggest that he will not be heading back to South Wales when he returns from World Cup duty.

“I didn’t know they were planning to sign him (Fabianski), I can honestly tell you,” Vorm told reporters in the Netherlands.

“But at Swansea City I can see the club is growing and there is competition for everyone, and that also applies to me.

“Fabianski was a free agent, which I understood, and he has signed for four years and the present situation is that I will be there after the summer, so I have competition.

“It may be that Swansea are already responding to my departure but then there must be (an offer).

“As long as that is not the case, Fabianski and I will have to fight. I do not necessarily have to leave.

“Of course, if I can make a big step then I may do that. We will have to see in the coming weeks.”
