TONY Gollan hopes it’s third time lucky when Outback Barbie runs in Saturday’s Furious Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.

Gollan knows Outback Barbie was a certainty beaten first-up in the Silver Shadow Stakes and also thinks a case can be made to say she should have won the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes in April as well.

“In fairness you just want to see them come back and race good,” Gollan said.

“She did that so I’m happy with that, but it’s frustrating that she gets beaten, knowing she should have a Group race on the CV, especially when she also had little luck back in the autumn.”

James McDonald was the luckless jockey last time and he retains the ride for Saturday.

‘‘She’s come through the run better than what she went into it and the reports I’m getting from Sydney are very exciting.”

Outback Barbie’s future spring campaign will be determined after she runs on Saturday, with options being the Golden Rose or continuing along the fillies’ path.

Gollan thinks she will run 1400m, but very much doubts the daughter of Spirit Of Boom will be a miler, so the Flight Stakes (1600m) seems unlikely at this stage.

Gollan opened his stable doors on Sunday for clients of miRunners, which has a two-year-old Your Song filly in his stable.

miRunners is a new way to get involved in racehorse ownership, with each purchase broken into 1000 units.

The aim is re-energising racing participation, with innovations and new concepts that expand the owner base.
