BRUNO Fornaroli was involved in another dramatic A-League moment as Melbourne City clashed with Central Coast Mariners.

The Uruguayan went to ground on the edge of the area under a tackle from Kalifa Cisse that more resembled a bear hug.

Despite big shouts for a penalty from City, the referee denied the visitors a penalty.

“When the arms are around the attacker like that you do run that risk,” assessed commentator Simon Hill.

“Now to be fair, Fornaroli initially had a piece of Kalifa Cisse’s shirt also his shorts. You could say six of one, half a dozen of the other.

“Just underlines to me, that VAR in common with the refereeing decisions that preceded the introduction of that piece of equipment, is still a matter of opinion.”

Fornaroli was at the centre of controversy in the Melbourne derby last week when he was awarded a soft penalty following minimal contact from Corey Brown.

Fans weighed in on the decision on social media.
