Tim Tebow has his 2018 assignment: the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, which is the Class AA affiliate of the Mets, USA Today reported.

It's a new level for the Heisman Trophy winner, who started out last season with the Columbia Fireflies and ended it with the high-A Port St. Lucie Mets.

During that span, Tebow Tebow hit .226 with a .656 OPS.

He had a chance to earn a spot on the Mets' roster in spring training, but was axed in the first wave of roster cuts.

Tebow's new assignment comes after Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said he expects Tebow to eventually make it to the big leagues
