TIM Kelly’s partner has voiced her disappointment at the lack of support from Geelong in the wake of the midfielder’s failed trade attempt to West Coast.

Caitlin Miller told The Geelong Advertiser she faced a range of challenges with her young family, which includes three children under the age of three, away from the couple’s family and friends in their home state of WA.

She said the Cats had failed to provide an adequate level of support in their first year associated with the club.

“They were aware we had never been to Melbourne, had no family or support and whilst we have had access to the club doctor when the children have been sick, the support we have been given by the Cats is minimal,” she told the Advertiser.

“We understand our situation is unique - I’m not sure the Cats have ever recruited a player with three under three from interstate so maybe they’re unaware of the kind of support that we should have been offered.”

Miller said one of her sons had been seeing an ENT specialist and required upcoming surgery, while another had weekly appointments for an autism diagnosis.

She had raised some of the issues with Geelong management in September and was hopeful the situation would improve.

Kelly had hoped to secure a swap back to his home state during the trade period, but his manager Anthony van der Wielen stated he would only go to West Coast and not Fremantle.

The Eagles and Cats failed to complete a deal for the 24-year-old despite negotiating until close to Wednesday’s final deadline.
