The teams Derendinger Interwetten (Thomas Lüthi) and Technomag Racing Interwetten (Dominique Aegerter and Robin Mulhauser) have joined forces to become Swiss Moto, it was announced recently in Zurich.

Mr Olivier Métraux, the president of the Swiss Automotive Group and the principal partner of this project, and Mr Frédéric Corminboeuf, the boss of the two squads that will be present on the grid in the Moto2 World Championship this year led the presentation.

"It is our great pleasure to have three Swiss riders under one roof and to aim for a podium in every race. But in this sport it is the athlete with his team who set objectives; partners only have a great pleasure to accompany them," stressed Mr Olivier Métraux, the man who made it possible for this promising project to go ahead: "When Daniel Epp decided to stop his involvement and sell his team he turned to us as a priority believing that we were the best alternative to continue the successful career of Thomas Lüthi. Thanks to the support of our loyal sponsors we were able to set up a second team and welcome Tom on board. Our first talks were very positive and the enthusiasm was mutual," he explained further.

The boss, and the man with a drive, Frédéric Corminboeuf, had this to say:

"Big Formula 1 and MotoGP teams almost always have their two riders on the same top level. I believe that this is the scenario to be fighting on top. I have two intelligent and professional riders, Thomas Lüthi and Dominique Aegerter. I am not worried and I hope that this competition will be positive. I do not have any concerns. When it comes to Robin Mulhauser, it can only benefit him to have an additional experienced man in the team."

The riders themselves realise that they still have a lot of work to do before the first race of the season, on Sunday evening the 29 of March, in Qatar. Since they started testing, they have had to deal with difficult weather conditions; conditions that have finally improved this week in Jerez de la Frontera.

"We still have more than one month before the first race, there is no reason to stress," explained Thomas Lüthi, fourth in testing in Valencia and tenth in Jerez de la Frontera this week. "Of course I always want to aim for the fastest lap times but at this time of the year it is important to build. And to be able to build, one has to understand. Every day of testing we find new things and that is really positive."

Dominique Aegerter has the same point of view, he himself has never been a big specialist when it comes to winter testing, but he always come in full force to the first Grand Prix: "It is in one month when we need to be in the front! Since the beginning of my career we have never tried so many different things in three days, it is a perfect illustration that we are currently working on."

The team’s rookie, Robin Mulhauser, is looking forward to this new adventure:

"The atmosphere in the team is incredible, I learn a lot watching Thomas work and I feel a bit better every day. Unfortunately I still have to be patient with my right shoulder, that was operated last December," explained the youngster from Fribourg.

The 2015 World Championship will start on the last Sunday of the month of March – the 29th – under the projectors of the circuit of Losail, in Qatar.
