BRISBANE has removed veteran Ryan Bastinac and youngster Jacob Allison from its primary list as it continues to search for maximum flexibility at the upcoming NAB AFL Draft.

The Lions have committed to re-selecting both players at the Rookie Draft, though.

Brisbane now has space on its primary list to use all five of its available selections at the national draft.

After a strong finish to 2017 Bastinac fell out of favour last season, playing just two games against Gold Coast in round five and North Melbourne in round 20.

Allison shared a similar story.

The rangy wingman who impressed in his debut season was passed by a number of younger players and managed a total of just three games, and none after round seven.

"During this year’s Trade Period we stated we were intent on going to draft, as we believe it is fairly strong," general manager of football David Noble said.

"These changes will create more spots for us at the draft and maximise our selections as part of our overall list strategy, whilst being aware of the first year of live trading on draft night."
