THERE’S plenty of rivalries on the line for Sunday’s Super Netball grand final between the West Coast Fever and Sunshine Coast Lightning.

East against West. Caitlin Bassett against her former team.

And now, WA music against the rest.

Sunshine Coast radio station Hot 91.1 is boycotting all WA music on their airwaves, refusing to play songs from the west until the grand final is done.

The light-hearted ban has been put in place due to the station’s sponsorship backing of the Lightning, with former Fever shooter Bassett a studio regular.

“For the record, we don’t hate Perth - we just can’t be friends right now,” program director Ronnie Stanton told The Music Network.

Star West Coast goal attack responded on Twitter, writing: “Sheesh. Whatever helps them sleep at night.”

The Fever’s own Twitter account also weighed in, replying simply with laughter.

More importantly, West Coast will be hoping to again get the last laugh on the court, having won both clashes between the two sides this season by a solitary goal.
