Bangladesh's ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been signed by Rangpur Riders for the upcoming season of Bangladesh Premier League that starts on December 6, 2019. Having played a pivotal role in Dhaka Dynamites' success over the last few years, the franchise will miss Shakib's services, but they've signed England's World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan.

Shakib has represented the Rangpur Riders previously, so he might have a fair idea about the team atmosphere. However, the only change is that of the team owners. The all-rounder will also replace Mashrafe Mortaza as the team's icon player and that probably means, Mortaza will have to look out for a new franchise in the upcoming season.

The all-rounder adds a lot of value to any team and after having had a dream run in the 2019 World Cup, there will be a lot of expectation from him to deliver at all levels. He was thoroughly missed by Bangladesh in their recent series defeat against Sri Lanka, but he got a much-needed break.

According to Shakib, presence of Tom Moody in the team management made it easier for him to join Rangpur Riders as he is well aware of his mode of operation, courtesy playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League.

''Tom Moody and I have worked together in Hyderabad,'' Shakib told reporters during the signing ceremony at Dhaka on Wednesday. ''He [Moody] will do most of the work, my responsibility will be to get the best out of everyone,'' Shakib said.

''I have performed my duties as a captain before. I know most of them, so I think there won't be big problem,'' Shakib said, expecting the hype of BPL to grow bigger in the coming days.

Shakib has scored nearly 1500 runs in Bangladesh Premier League and is the only bowler to take more than 100 wickets in the history of the tournament.
