Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard could make his return to action against Hull in the Premier League on Wednesday after almost a month out with a hamstring injury.

Gerrard is back in full training and Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said on Monday that he will assess the midfielder's fitness being deciding whether to recall him for the match at Anfield.

Gerrard's return is a major boost to Rodgers, who saw midfielder Joe Allen and center back Mamadou Sakho come off in the 2-1 loss at Chelsea on Sunday to join an injury list that already includes striker Daniel Sturridge and fullbacks Jon Flanagan and Jose Enrique.

Liverpool were top of the Premier League on Christmas Day but have slipped to fifth after losing to Manchester City and Chelsea.
