Steff Evans: Scarlets wing given four-week ban after sending off
Scarlets' Steff Evans has been banned for four weeks after his red card in the Boxing Day win over Ospreys.
Evans was sent off after an aerial challenge on Ben John that saw the Ospreys wing suffer a head injury.
The Wales wing will miss the next two Welsh derbies against Cardiff Blues and Dragons, plus the final two Champions Cup group games with Bath and Toulon.
Evans is free to play from midnight on Sunday, 21 January - two weeks before the start of the Six Nations.
A Pro14 disciplinary panel met in Dublin on Thursday and decided Evans' offence merited an eight-week suspension, but reduced that by half after taking into account the player's conduct, good character and the presentation of his defence.
Evans and Scarlets retain the right to lodge an appeal, but this is unlikely as coach Wayne Pivac accepted after the win at Parc y Scarlets that his player's challenge deserved a red card.
Pivac said: "[The tackle] was reckless, dangerous, call it what you will. It was clumsy and I've got no complaints about that.
