No meteorologist could have possibly predicted this Red Storm.
St. John's 79-75 win over No. 1 Villanova on Wednesday marks the second top-five opponent the Red Storm have beaten in four days.

After knocking off then-No. 4 Duke 81-77 on Saturday, the Red Storm (12-13, 1-11 Big East) walked into their conference rivals' court and beat the Wildcats (22-2, 9-2) for their win in the Big East this season.

'Nova had difficulty shooting beyond the arc, going 8 for 33 from 3 compared to St. John's 6-for-16 shooting. It also did not help that Jalen Brunson shot all but one of the Wildcats' free throws. He attempted 11, making 10.

Shamorie Ponds led the Red Storm with 26 points on 8-for-20 shooting, five rebounds and five assists.
The Wildcats made the game interesting in the final two minutes, cutting the deficit to one after trailing by as many as nine late. St. John's responded with a breakaway and-one dunk by forward Marvin Clark that turned the momentum.
Will this win alone help propel St. John's to a berth in the NCAA Tournament? Probably not.

But the back-to-back upsets do serve as reminders to the top teams that trap games can always be right around the corner.
