South Korea has offered to field a unified women's hockey team with North Korea for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

A senior Seoul official made the offer in an interview with Yonhap news agency Friday, via Reuters.

The two teams recently played against each other in the Women's World Championships in 2017 in South Korea, so they do know a little about one another. The southern nation won in pool play 3-0.

North Korea has yet to respond to the proposal. North Korea is sending a delegation of athletes after the two countries came to a deal marking the first talks between the two nations in two years.

South Korea has also offered to march out during the opening ceremonies alongside its northern counterparts
