Midfielder Nicky Featherstone is to extend his stay with Scunthorpe after impressing on trial at the League One club.

The 25-year-old, who came through the Hull academy, has had spells with Grimsby, Hereford and Walsall, playing 29 times for the Saddlers in this division last term.

"We've now got Nicky Featherstone on board," manager Russ Wilcox told The Iron Player. "We're going to give him a week-to-week contract, which will give us the opportunity to have a look at him and give him a chance to look at us.

"He played a lot of games last season in League One for Walsall and he's a good player, another addition to the squad."
