''If the team management feels it, I think it will be a positive step, if we can promote him up in the order" - Mominul © BCCI

Bangladesh are in dire need of fixing their number four batting spot before the upcoming Test against India at the Eden Gardens, a day-night affair with the pink ball scheduled from November 22.

Mushfiqur Rahim came to bat at number five in both innings in the opening Test at Indore, raising quite a few eyebrows considering he'd decided not to keep wickets in the Test series and instead concentrate more on his batting.

His decision to play as a pure batsman was welcomed by head coach Russell Domingo but whether batting at number five provides him with the best of opportunities as a batsman is a question that needs answering -- by Mushfiqur as much as by the team management.

Cricbuzz understands Mushfiqur is adamant to bat at five, considering his statistics there is better than at number four. Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque, though, insisted that there will be a discussion around the matter soon.

"We should have a chat and make a decision. To be honest we haven't taken any decision in this regard," Mominul said after the loss to India in Indore. ''If the team management feels it, I think it will be a positive step, if we can promote him up in the order."

Across the world, the best batsman in the team tries and plays at number four. For India it's Virat Kohli; for Australia it's Steven Smith. And in Indore, Mushfiqur was Bangladesh's best batsman with scores of 43 and 64 in the two innings. Yes, he was lucky on a couple of occasions but those scores came when rest of Bangladesh's batting had no answers for India's ruthless pace attack.

And with the second Test being played with a pink ball -- known to move much more -- Mushfiqur's promotion up the order against this Indian bowling attack becomes all the more crucial. Can Bangladesh convince Mushfiqur?
