Shakib Al Hasan, the ace Bangladesh all-rounder, is expected to join the national team's World Cup preparatory camp, starting from April 22, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials said.

Cricbuzz has learnt that BCB had sent a letter to Shakib informing him of the training camp and wanting to confirm his presence for the same. The all-rounder, who has recovered from a finger injury which prevented him from joining the national team for the tour of New Zealand, was earlier granted a no-objection certificate to make himself available for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the presence of stalwarts like David Warner, Jonny Bairstow and Kane Williamson has meant that Shakib hasn't managed gametime with the franchise.

"We have sent him the letter yesterday and he is expected to join us on April 22nd or 23rd," Akram Khan, BCB's cricket operations committee chairman, said on Tuesday (April 16).

Bangladesh are building for the showpiece event with a training camp and will then participate in a tri-nation series in Ireland, with West Indies being the third team. It will be followed by two warm-up matches against Pakistan and India respectively before they clash with South Africa in their first preliminary league match on June 2nd at the Kennington Oval, London.
