The dates for the 2019 Caribbean Premier League have been pushed forward in order to avoid a clash with India's tour of the West Indies, which is set to feature Tests, ODIs and T20Is. The tournament, which was slated to start on August 21, will now take place from September 4 to October 12.

The move will ensure availability of West Indies players for the CPL as well as for the India series. West Indies cricket has benefited a lot from CPL as many young stars have emerged and evolved as a courtesy of this tournament over the years, so it becomes important that the fresh lot this year gets an opportunity to rub shoulders with international players, the availability of whom becomes a priority.

"The Caribbean Premier League pride itself on being in the very top echelon of T20 tournaments around the world, and for that to happen we need the best players available. We want our fans to be able to watch the best local talent taking part and that is why we are more than happy to be flexible with our dates to make that happen," Pete Russell, the COO of CPL, said.
