Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has revealed that he is “close” to signing three new players.

The newly-promoted Championship outfit have recruited no fewer than 14 players so far this summer – 10 of them on free transfers, including Frazer Richardson, Paul Green and Jordan Bowery.

The Millers are still keen on adding more players to the squad, with Evans claiming that as many as three could arrive before the end of the summer transfer window.

“We need two or three more in,” Evans said in The Star. “We’re not silly. We’re working hard to get two or three over the line. We’re close.

“Whether they can be done in time for the weekend, we’ll have to see. We’ve got a long time to deadline day. We’ve got different areas and different priorities.”
