DESPITE the end of his remarkable 11-game goal scoring streak, Cristiano Ronaldo still managed to break a Champions League record against Bayern Munich.

Its Champions League Extra Time!

RONALDO’S RECORD BREAKING NIGHT… DESPITE POOR DISPLAY
Cristiano Ronaldo is used to breaking records, and he appears to do so every time he steps on the pitch in the Champions League – and this time was no different.

Despite a relatively poor display from the Portuguese superstar, he still managed to create a piece of history in the competition.

The match was CR7’s 151st appearance in the tournament, moving him second on the all-time list behind only former teammate Iker Casillas and level with ex-Barcelona midfield maestro Xavi.

Ronaldo’s Real ran out 2-1 winners at Allianz Arena, making it the 96th victory the attacker has played in at continental level – meaning he’s now got more than any player in the competition’s history.

He now moves one ahead of Casillas, although his record run of 11 consecutive matches scored in has now ended.

THE MOST PLAYED FIXTURE IN CL HISTORY
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are no strangers to facing off in European battle.

In fact, the Champions League juggernauts have met in the competition more than any other two sides – which is hardly surprising considering they boast 17 European Cups between them.

This semi-final meeting at Allianz Arena was their 25th clash in the history of the tournament, making it the most played fixture ever.

REAL BOSS BAYERN
Real Madrid have now won each of their last five Champions League games against Bayern Munich.

Their 2-1 win followed on from a pair of quarter final wins last year against the German champions, with the match also bringing up Los Blancos’ 150th win in the competition.

Prior to that, Real won both legs of the 2014 semi-final clash between the pair as well as their home leg at the same stage of the tournament in 2012.
