RODNEY Hood was hoping for a big contract this off-season, but it appears he’s just settled on signing a qualifying offer to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

That’s according to multiple reports — first by cleveland.com — with Hood set to sign the $3.4 million qualifying offer, instead of signing a multi-year deal.

The decision means Hood is betting on himself for the upcoming season, with the hopes of earning that lucrative contract in the 2019 off-season.

Hood, 25, played the majority of his career with the Utah Jazz before being traded to the Cavaliers in February. Since his trade to Cleveland, the 6’9 forward has struggled; particularly as the post-season came around.

For the Jazz, Hood averaged 16.8 points per game in the 2017-18 regular season, but that dropped to just 10.8 points a game as a Cavalier.

With LeBron James having moved to the Los Angeles Lakers, the expectation is that Hood could earn extended minutes with the Cavaliers this coming season.
