Robbie returns in top shape, wins Swans' 2km trial
SYDNEY midfielder Robbie Fox has started off 2019 in strong fashion, winning the Swans' time trial as he makes a bid to cement a place in the club's line-up this season.
Fox played 10 games last year, after three in his debut year of 2017, and on Monday morning beat out teammates in the Swans' 2km time trial.
It was their first session back from their three-week break over Christmas, with Isaac Heeney, Harry Cunningham and Jordan Dawson finishing behind the 25-year-old.
Development coach Lloyd Perris, who was formerly rookie-listed by the Swans and a renowned strong endurance runner, also completed the time trial.
"I didn't really think about what the other guys were doing in the run – I just wanted to run a good time myself," Fox said on the Swans' website.
"But Heeney ran very well and he always does. It was pretty funny seeing Lloyd Perris putting the foot down. He was actually leading the way for most of the way and it was good to chase him down."
The Swans followed their run with nearly an hour of skills work in the Sydney wet, with Fox highlighting youngsters Tom Papley, Oliver Florent and Heeney as standouts.
Sydney plays Greater Western Sydney at Blacktown on Saturday, March 2 in its first JLT Community Series game ahead of its regular season opener against the Western Bulldogs.
