UTAH Jazz point guard Ricky Rubio could miss multiple weeks with a left hamstring injury, according to multiple reports.

An absence that long would cause Rubio to miss the entire NBA playoffs western conference second-round series against the Houston Rockets.

He is expected to miss a minimum of 10 days.

Rubio has been dealing with periodic soreness in the hamstring since the beginning of the month.

Rubio suffered the latest setback in the opening quarter of Utah’s game six clinching series win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

He exited with 4:52min left in the first quarter and was soon declared out for the contest.

The team has not said how long he will be out yet but coach Quin Snyder said after Friday’s game he hoped it wasn’t too serious.

“It’s a tough series and it caught up with him a little bit,” he said. “But hopefully he’ll be all right eventually. We don’t know the timeline.”

Rubio averaged 16.8 points, 8.6 rebounds and 7.8 assists over the first five games of the first-round series against the Thunder.

He recorded a triple-double in Utah’s game three victory with 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Meanwhile, Houston forward Luc Mbah a Moute is expected to miss Sunday’s second- round series opener against the Jazz.

Mbah a Moute missed the No.1 seeded Rockets’ first-round series with the Minnesota Timberwolves after dislocating his right shoulder on April 10. He pronounced himself as recovered to reporters prior to Saturday’s practice but Houston coach Mike D’Antoni said he’s more likely to return to action for game two on Wednesday.

Mbah a Moute’s defence is a coveted ingredient for a team loaded with offensive firepower.

He averaged 7.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 61 games.
