Eliot Richards has become Rob Edwards' first signing as Tranmere manager.

The 22-year-old attacker, out of contract following his departure from Bristol Rovers, has signed a two-year deal at Prenton Park.

Richards looked set to sign for Exeter having spent a successful second half of the season at St James Park, where Edwards was assistant manager, on loan from The Memorial Stadium.

The Grecians confirmed last week that they were in contract talks with a player who played a vital role in keeping them in League Two but he has moved north to join up with Edwards, who was appointed as the successor to Ronnie Moore on Tuesday.

"I'm delighted to have signed Eliot for the club," Edwards told their official website. "He's a very dangerous player who always looks like he can score goals with either foot.

"He's played and scored in Leagues One and Two and is a quick and bright, forward thinking player.

"He's someone who we feel we can develop and will become capable of playing at a much higher level."
