USA bagged the One-Day International status for the first time in their cricketing history as they defeated Hong Kong by 84 runs in the World Cricket League Division 2 match in Windhoek on Wednesday (April 24). Oman, who had three wins in their first three games, were also awarded the ODI status.

The win was USA's third in the tournament, in four games, and ensured they will finish in the top four in the table. The top four teams from Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, Namibia, Canada, Oman and USA will join Scotland, the UAE and Nepal in Cricket World Cup League 2.

After the opening loss against Oman by six wickets, USA trounced Namibia by two runs, PNG by ten wickets and Hong Kong in their last game. They will now take on Canada on April 26. They are currently at the top of the table with six points from four games and will be eyeing a top two finish to seal a place in the final of the tournament.

Oman, on the other hand, were clinical as they defeated USA, Canada and Hong Kong in their first three games. After their game against Namibia, they will take on PNG ahead of the final.
