Red Sox relief pitcher Matt Barnes was ejected for throwing behind the head of Orioles star Manny Machado. Now he's been suspended for his actions.

Major League Baseball announced Monday it suspended Barnes four games and fined him an undisclosed amount for intentionally throwing a pitch at Machado in the bottom of the eighth inning of Sunday's game.

The right-hander has elected to appeal, thus the discipline will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.
