Dual Group One-winning sprinter Reckless Abandon will make his return from an unsuccessful spell at stud in the Stobart Members Club Hopeful Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.

The four-year-old landed the Prix Morny and the Middle Park Stakes during a tremendous juvenile campaign for Clive Cox and although he failed to make the same kind of impact the following season, he performed creditably at the highest level.

He was retired to Darley Stud at the end of last year, but after suffering fertility problems, it was announced earlier this year he would return to the racecourse and run for Godolphin under the tutelage of trainer Charlie Appleby.

Reckless Abandon is set to face 12 rivals in this weekend's six-furlong Listed contest on his first appearance in 321 days.

It promises to be a thorough examination, with Robert Cowell's 32Red (Stewards') Cup winner Intrinsic and Brian Meehan's exciting sprinter Intibaah among the opposition.

Eton Rifles, Alben Star, Caspar Netscher and Tropics also feature.
