Rassie van der Dussen has been added to Cricket South Africa's revised list of centrally contracted players for 2019-20. Van der Dussen, 30, was added as the 17th recipient of the national contract for the season following a productive 2019 World Cup, which he finished as the team's second-highest run-getter with 311 runs from six innings at an average of 62.20.

Van der Dussen, a late bloomer who has been endorsed as a future South Africa ODI captain, takes up the contract that was left vacant following fast bowler Duanne Olivier's decision to move to England on a Kolpak deal.

"Rassie's promotion is thoroughly justified on the back of a brilliant debut season at international level and has also served as an inspiration to all aspiring cricketers at domestic level of what can be achieved by showing top-class form on a consistent basis," said CSA Chief Executive Thabang Moroe.

CSA squad and staff for spin bowling camp

Cricket South Africa have also named a list of eight batsmen and seven spinners who'll be part of a spin-bowling camp in Bengaluru between August 17-23 as part of South Africa's preparation for the forthcoming all-format series in the subcontinent. Besides the 'A' squad that'll travel for their games against India A, batsmen Aiden Markram, Janeman Malan and Zubai Hamza have been cherrypicked to attend the camp and acclimatize to the conditions.

Offspinner Dane Piedt, who played the Delhi Test on South Africa's last tour of India in 2015, headlines the list of spinners at the camp.

We have identified Aiden Markram, Zubayr Hamza and Temba Bavuma as key Proteas batsmen to benefit from this project and we have also included some of our potential stars of the future such as Janneman Malan and Sinethemba Qeshile, who have already both played for the Proteas, as well as Matthew Breetzke.

"The batting group is completed by two of our most consistent runs scorers in franchise cricket in Pieter Malan and Edward Moore," Moroe said. "The bowling group is headed by the experience of Dane Piedt and includes highly promising talents, among them being Bjorn Fortuin, Tsepo Ndwandwa and Senuran Muthusamy.

"It is a fact that most international cricket is played on the sub-continent these days and we have to look ahead not only to the tours on the immediate horizon but the next edition of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in India in 2023."

Russell Domingo, the A team Coach, will be assisted by former Proteas cricketers Ashwell Prince (batting consultant) and Paul Adams (spin consultant) at the camp.
