#Seahawks coach Pete Carroll called Brian Schottenheimer and offered him the vacant OC job. They are working on the deal, but it’s expected to get done, as @Adamschefter said. This was their top choice, offering now before other teams got involved.

Bevell was fired, along with offensive line coach Tom Cable, after the Seahawks went 9-7 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2011. The Seahawks allowed 43 sacks, which was 10th worst in the league.

Schottenheimer has spent the last two seasons as the quarterbacks coach in Indianapolis. He was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Georgia in 2015 and spent the previous three seasons as the Rams offensive coordinator. His longest NFL tenure was with the Jets, for whom he ran the offense from 2006-11. He was a grad assistant with the Rams in 1997 and the Chiefs in 1998, but his first real NFL job was with the Redskins as the quarterbacks coach in 2001 before spending four seasons in the same position with the Chargers.

Seahawks general manager John Schneider was Washington's vice president of player personnel in 2001, when Schottenheimer was on the coaching staff of his father, Marty. Brian also served on his father's coaching staffs with the Chargers and Chiefs
