Arsenal have had to endure a lot of criticism of late, with Arsene Wenger's position coming in for scrutiny as he struggles to navigate the club through increasingly choppy waters. And it doesn't look like it's going to end any time soon.

With the Gunners slipping out of the title race and their Champions League hopes under threat, the decision to bench star player Alexis Sanchez in last Saturday's defeat to Liverpool was derided by fans and pundits alike.

Among those to lend his voice to the criticism of the Premier League side is one Eric Cantona, though the former Manchester United attacker took a more creative pop than most at the North London side.

The 50-year-old Frenchman doesn't appear to have much sympathy for his compatriot Wenger, suggesting that the Emirates would be the perfect destination for a tired coach, such as Barcelona boss Luis Enrique.

"Luis Enrique announced that he will stop at the end of the season because he needs... rest," Cantona said in a video broadcast by Eurosport.

"I knew that Spanish people were serious about the siesta, but he is taking it to a whole new level!

"Who is going to replace him? [Jorge] Sampaoli? Good idea! Finally [Lionel] Messi will talk to his coach.

"Or [Arsene] Wenger? Why not an exchange? Luis Enrique would go to Arsenal... it's the perfect place if you want to rest!"

Arsenal are in Champions League action tonight against Bayern Munich, where they must attempt to overturn a 5-1 first-leg defeat if they are to remain in the competition.
