PALMERSTON Magpie Jonty Patrick added to his stellar 2018 season when he won the Round 10 nomination for the 2018-19 NT News Rising Star.

The 16-year-old played on a wing and rotated through the midfield in the Magpies’ memorable win over the Buffaloes.

Magpies assistant coach Glen Patrick said the club was “very happy’’ with his son’s performances.

“He’s had a great year at Assumption College in Victoria where he was the only 15-year-old to play in the first 18 down there,’’ Patrick Sr said.

“And he’s just signed with (TAC Cup side) Calder Cannons, so it’s been a good 12 months and he’s carried that on up here.’

“We told him to get out wide, run both ways and make sure their wingers didn’t get out and go by putting in some defensive running in as well.’’

The Magpies played seven of their U18 side in the win over the Buffaloes, including Patrick, Elijah Kelly, Max Fraser, Misha Perry, Sandy Brock, Jacon Lampton and Ryan Warfe.

All of them played their part in the win, proof that Palmerston is on the right track in their bid to climb up the Premier League ladder.

Other players to impress in Round 10 matches included Nightcliff pair Joel Budarick and Liam Holt-Fitz and Tiwi young gun Jack Munkara.
