David Warner is set to undergo a minor surgery on his elbow on Tuesday (January 22) after his stint at the Bangladesh Premier League was cut short due to injury. He is expected to wear a sling for a week and will take another three weeks to resume full training.

The injury doesn't put Warner's World Cup plans in a soup, unlike Steven Smith, whose nature of injury is relatively more serious and will have to be in a brace for up to six weeks.

Both Warner and Smith will have served their bans by March 28, which makes them eligible for selection in the middle of the One-Day International series against Pakistan. While Warner is expected to be available, Smith will be up against time and might even go on to miss the early stages of the Indian Premier League.
