He tallied a secondary assist on Nicklas Backstom's power play goal late in the first period, which tied the game at 1-1.

Ovechkin added to his historic night in the second period, redirecting Brooks Orpik's shot from the point past Florida goaltender Harri Sateri to tie the game at 2-2.

The goal was Ovechkin's league-leading 30th of the season and marked the 13th consecutive campaign that the Russian has reached the 30-goal plateau.

Ovechkin has hit that milestone in each of his 13 NHL seasons with the Capitals and now has 588 goals and 500 assists in his distinguished career.
