The Ajax attacker was satisfied with his side's performance, but felt they could have hurt the Dutch even more

Kolbeinn Sigthorsson has claimed Iceland could easily have beaten Netherlands by a bigger margin than 2-0 in Monday's Euro 2016 qualifier.

Gylfi Sigurdsson netted twice before the break to lead Iceland to a surprising win in Reykjavik, which saw the Scandinavians move six points clear of the Dutch in Group A, level with leaders Czech Republic on nine.

However, Sigthorsson - who plays for Dutch champions Ajax - argued Iceland could have scored four or five goals with a bit more luck.

"We had a few good counter-attacks," the striker told NOS.

"It also could have been 4-1 or 5-1, but we are satisfied.

"We have defended fantastically."

Sigthorsson then went on to say that he was not surprised Iceland triumphed.

"We just have a very good team. It's hard to play football against us. We fight for each other.

"We are staying stay calm, though. We play against Czech Republic next month. They have not lost any points either."
