TASS, February 25. The American newspaper New York Post named the Russian hockey players who won the Olympic hockey tournament in South Korean Pyeongchang, a "team without the country." The relevant material was published on Sunday.

On the last day of the Olympics, Russian hockey players defeated Germany 4: 3 in the finals of the Olympic tournament. The electronic version of the New York Post published on its website material on the outcome of this match with the title "A team without a country wins the gold of the hockey Olympic tournament" (A team without a country wins hockey gold). The newspaper also published a link to the note in its Twiiter account with exactly the same title.

The newspaper's material caused a wide response among Twitter users. In particular, the user with the nickname vladmonreal wrote "Russia without a flag, the USA without a team" in the comments to the NY Post entry. The US team dropped out of the Olympic hockey tournament at the quarterfinals, losing to the Czechs (2: 3). User Ekaterina Bobrova noted that "all the people in the world know who these guys are and you [New York Post] know."

Russian athletes, including Russian hockey players, performed at the 2018 Games under the Olympic flag and in the status of Olympic athletes from Russia due to the removal of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). Membership of the ROC will be restored after the anti-doping services confirm the absence of new violations by Russian athletes at the Olympics in Pyeongchang. Earlier at the Games-2018, the curlers of the anti-doping rule violation were the curler Alexander Krushelnytsky and the bobsledder Nadezhda Sergeeva.
