CANTERBURY have had their NRL fine for their lewd Mad Monday celebrations halved.

The club was fined $250,000 after Adam Elliott and Asipeli Fine were photographed nude while celebrating at a Sydney pub.

The NRL on Tuesday said they had reduced the Bulldogs’ fine to $125,000 after taking into account the club’s submission.

In their submission the Bulldogs acknowledged the seriousness of the breach, apologised to the game for the damage caused, and committed to put measures in place to ensure there is no repeat of the behaviour.

“Under those circumstances, the NRL will suspend half the original fine,” an NRL spokesman said.

“However the suspended part of the fine will be reimposed if there is any material breach of the code of conduct during the next two years.

“This incident should act as a reminder to all clubs and club officials that it is imperative to take extra precautions when organising club-sanctioned events.”

Bulldogs chief executive Andrew Hill accepted the NRL’s response to the recent breach notice pertaining to the club.

“Having worked closely with the NRL in regards to our response to the recent breach notice that was handed down we feel that as a club we have acted swiftly and decisively to both review the events of the day and to put in place improved procedures to make sure that this does not happen again,” Hill said.
