THE NRL’s crackdown on penalties is long gone, but the players prone to being penalised remain in rugby league.

From premiership winner James Tedesco to Sharks’ enforcer Andrew Fifita, these were the players that got more attention than most from the referees this year.

Fox Sports brings you the team of the most penalised players for their position in season 2018.

1. James Tedesco (8)
The Roosters’ premiership winner was the most penalised fullback in season 2018, one ahead of Knights youngster Kalyn Ponga (7).

2. Kyle Feldt (11)
The Cowboys’ winger finished equal first for most penalised flankers together with Storm star Suliasi Vunivalu.

3. Latrell Mitchell (24)
The Roosters’ star holds the unenviable record of most penalties conceded by a back in 2018 and finished eight ahead of Dragons’ centre Tim Lafai for his position.

4. Tim Lafai (16)
The Dragons’ centre was the equal second-most penalised player for his position along with Raiders’ bohemeth Joey Leilua (16).

5. Suliasi Vunivalu (11)
The Storm flyer finished equal first for most penalties conceded for his position, one ahead of second placed Raiders’ winger Jordan Rapana (10).

6. James Maloney (21)
The Panthers’ larrikin finished equal first with Cameron Munster (21), for penalties conceded by five-eighths in 2018.

7. Mitchell Moses (18)
The Eels’ halfback was the equally most penalised No.7 in the NRL, with Rabbitohs’ star Adam Reynolds (18).

8. Andrew Fifita (35)
The Sharks’ enforcer holds the unwanted record as the game’s most penalised player in 2018 and conceded 11 more penalties than Aaron Woods, who had the second most by a prop.

9. Issac Luke (27)
The Warriors’ rake conceded the equal second most penalties in the competition and committed two more than second placed hooker Cameron McInnes (25).

10. Aaron Woods (24)
The Bulldogs-turned-Sharks prop finished with the second most penalties by a front-rower, one ahead of third placed George Burgess (23).

11. Elliot Whitehead (22)
The Raiders’ fiery Englishman conceded the second most penalties by a second-rower, one ahead of the third placed Cowboys’ star Coen Hess (21).

12. Angus Crichton (26)
The Roosters bound former Rabbitohs enforcer was the fourth most penalised player in the competition and conceded four more penalties than the second placed second-rower Elliot Whitehead.

13. Jake Trbojevic (27)
The Manly lock conceded the equal second most penalties in the NRL in season 2018 and had three more than the lock with the second most, Rabbitoh Sam Burgess (24).
