SUNSHINE Coast Lightning’s bid for a hat-trick of Super Netball titles next year will be boosted by the return of Silver Fern Laura Langman.

Mid-courter Langman was part of the Lightning’s championship win in 2017 but missed the club’s successful title defence this year due to Netball New Zealand (NNZ) ruling players ineligible for national selection if they did not play in their own country’s competition.

However, NNZ has granted Langman a 12-month exemption from its Silver Ferns selection policy.

“Sunshine Coast Lightning holds a special place in my heart and I’m eager to take to the court once again with such an incredible group of players,” Langman said.

“It was a difficult decision to step away from the Super Netball league last year and I’m excited to be rejoining the fold.

“Lightning’s club culture resonates strongly with me and I’ve made no secret of my high regard for Noeline Taurua’s coaching style.

“I feel incredibly privileged to be afforded the opportunity to play under her leadership at Lightning and as part of the Silver Ferns.

“I’m also very grateful to have been granted the exemption by Netball New Zealand and can’t wait to kick off the 2019 season on the Sunshine Coast.”
