THE NBA has announced that, for the second straight year, it will host an NBA Academy Games, and a Basketball Australia Prospects Camp will take place.

The Games and camp will take place from July 15-21, at the NBA Global Academy in Canberra, and it follows in the footsteps of 2017’s successful events.

The events will feature young athletes from various NBA Academies — in Australia, China India, Mexico, and Senegal — as well as 50 of Australia’s top prospects.

Like 2017’s event, NBA team personnel and college coaches are permitted to attend. Multiple high major NCAA coaches who spoke with foxsports.com.au, over the past several weeks, already expressed interest in attending.

“It’s been an incredible year for the NBA Academies program,” NBA Vice President, International Basketball Operations & Head of Elite Basketball, Brooks Meek said.

“Prospects from the seven NBA Academies have had the opportunity to travel to Europe and the U.S. to compete against top competition, the first two NBA Academy graduates verbally committed to NCAA schools, and our academies have hosted a series of camps for top female prospects from outside the U.S.

“Our second NBA Academy Games will give returning and new prospects the opportunity to compete against and learn from one another.”

Last year’s Prospects camp saw, among others, TCU, SMU, Utah, Winthrop, Oregon State, Davidson, Bradley, San Diego, Seattle, Old Dominion, Portland, Loyola Marymount, Hawaii, and Saint Mary’s attend.
