COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley has paid a touching tribute to MND sufferer Murray Swinton, sliding down the Big Freeze 4 slide in the former fireman’s uniform.

Swinton, believed to be a Collingwood supporter, was diagnosed with MND in January after a work accident.

The 30-year veteran fireman Swinton presented Buckley with the uniform and helmet in the Magpies’ rooms before all 18 AFL coaches took the icy plunge.

“He (Murray) is a firefighter suffering MND,” Buckley said before going down the slide.

“This is his helmet, that he wore for 30 years and I would like to acknowledge him and the fire brigade as well for what they’ve done for us.

“His wife and two boys were happy to have him along and if him and experience he will remember. It is fairly significant.”

Swinton watched Buckley go down the slide, while several Magpies captain Scott Pendlebury convened in the middle of the MCG to watch their coach get a bath.
