Napoli sporting director Riccardo Bigon has dismissed rumours linking the club with a move for Liverpool's Mario Balotelli.

Reports earlier this week claimed Napoli boss Rafa Benitez was lining up a move to bring Italy international Balotelli back to Serie A after a difficult start to life at Anfield.

Balotelli has struggled to impress at Liverpool since his £16million move from AC Milan, scoring just his second goal for the club in the midweek Capital One Cup win over Swansea.

Bigon has moved to reject the speculation and insists Napoli have no plans to sign former Inter Milan star Balotelli.

"It's a rumour told in Spain, England and Italy but I don't think it is a possibility," Bigon told Mediaset.

"Nothing of what has been posted is true.

"Mario Balotelli is a really great player but he has been just signed by Liverpool who believes a lot in him.

"Best wishes to him in his English adventure."
