Andy Murray is through to the Australian Open semi-finals for the fifth time after beating rising Australian star Nick Kyrgios 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3 on Tuesday night in Melbourne.

Murray goes on to face Tomas Berdych for a place in the final at Melbourne Park after the Czech ousted Rafael Nadal earlier in the day. The Scot has lost his past two meetings with Berdych and trails their FedEx ATP Head2Head series 4-6.

The 27-year-old Murray is looking to reach his first Grand Slam final since his historic Wimbledon victory in 2013 (d. Djokovic). The right-hander is hoping to become the first man in the Open Era to win the Australian Open title after losing in the final three times. He finished runner-up in 2010-11 and 2013.

"I'm happy. It's nice to be in the latter stages of a slam again," said Murray.
