The Brewers have made an offer to free-agent right-hander Yu Darvish, according to multiple reports.

The Athletic confirmed an original report by Sponichi Annex in Japan that said the Brewers were in a "full battle" to sign Darvish, who ended last season with the Dodgers.

Darvish, 31, was 10-12 in 2017 with the Rangers and Dodgers with a 3.86 ERA and 209 strikeouts in 186 2/3 innings.

He would provide veteran front-of-the-rotation help for the Brewers, who've added Jhoulys Chacin and Yovani Gallardo this offseason as they try and build on a surprising 86-76 season in 2017. Right-hander Zach Davies, who turns 25 next month, led Milwaukee with 17 wins last season.

The Cubs, Yankees, Twins and Rangers also are believed to be interested in Darvish
