The Giants have been one of the busiest teams this offseason, and they continued their activity Monday by signing outfielder Austin Jackson to a two-year deal.

The contract is worth $6 million, but could reach as much as $8.5 million, according to MLB reporter Jon Heyman.

"We are excited to have Austin join the Giants," Giants general manager Bobby Evans said in a statement. "He is a talented and versatile player who will strengthen our roster and provide additional depth at all three outfield positions."

Jackson played for the Indians last season, slashing .318/.387/.482 with seven home runs and 46 runs scored in just 280 at-bats. Jackson could be the Giants' fourth outfielder, or carve out the starting center-fielder job.

The Giants had already acquired third baseman Evan Longoria from the Rays and outfielder Andrew McCutchen from the Pirates this offseason.
While Jackson adds an intriguing offense-defense dynamic, he hasn't been a regular starter since 2014. The Giants had been linked with guys like Lorenzo Cain and Jarrod Dyson, so it's possible they aren't done adding outfielders
