JAMES Tedesco is the one man the Rabbitohs have to shut down if they’re to progress to the grand final.

That’s the expert opinion of former premiership winner Michael Ennis, who said the Roosters without Latrell Mitchell won’t have the firepower across the park to match it with Souths.

When Fox League’s Dan Ginnane asked the former rake where the Tricolours’ points will come from, he said the star fullback was the only obvious danger to Anthony Seibold’s men.

“Obviously Latrell Mitchell’s out so that’s one of their big attacking weapons gone. The other popular Roosters tactic and a successful one, kick it high to (Blake) Ferguson or (Daniel) Tupou, well there’s two big Souths wingers, so that sort of nullifies that. Have they got enough attack against South Sydney?” Ginnane questioned.

“Well, James Tedesco,” Ennis offered. “He’s the form player of the competition isn’t he Dan?”

“I mean he’s been absolutely wonderful since Origin, since that game at the MCG when he just absolutely lit the fuse there and it’s just continued to grow and grow and get better and better.

“I mean he had 300 metres the other week carrying the ball and 12 tackle breaks, he’s just been absolutely sensational.

“So, he’ll trouble South Sydney’s big men through the middle and I think that’s their biggest danger to be honest.”

While he acknowledged the minor premiers still have a number of class players to turn to, he said the Rabbitohs stack up better out wide.

“Cooper Cronk the experience, Luke Keary... they’ve got a number of strike weapons out there but Latrell’s a huge omission and I think it’ll be the difference in the end and I think South Sydney will win,” he continued.

“The likes of Greg Inglis out wide given that Latrell Mitchell is missing, they might just have a few extra points in them.”
