ALAN Richardson could be on borrowed time at St Kilda after the arrival of new president Andrew Bassat.

Bassat took the reins last week from Peter Summers and gave a not-entirely-convincing guarantee about Richardson’s future as Saints coach.

Herald Sun reporter Michael Warner wasn’t convinced.

“My read on St Kilda right now is that Alan Richardson won’t survive, he won’t coach next year,” Warner said on this week’s episode of the SuperFooty Podcast.

“Based on that press conference with Andrew Basset who took over, he wasn’t pressed that hard and he said it was ‘highly unlikely’ (Richardson would not be at the Saints next year). I just get the feeling that all bets are off.

“Highly unlikely is not definitive, it leaves the door ajar.

“I may well be proven wrong, but it just seems to me that the vibe is in 3-4 weeks they will rip the Band-Aid off.”
