Mexico legend Hugo Sanchez could be returning to direct involvement in the game, saying Tuesday night that he's spoken with Carlos Lopez Chargoy about buying Liga MX club Puebla.
Speaking on Futbol Picante, the former forward said ownership might be the next step for his involvement in the game, after a long career as a player, a stint as a coach and serving on FIFA's Football Committee alongside other former players.
"I directly told (Chargoy), who I already had the chance to meet with in Puebla when there was the chance that I would manage there before (Manuel) Lapuente, I met with Carlos Hugo Lopez Chargoy and we talked," he said. "Now, I don't rule out (buying the club) because I have a lot of friends and a lot of people who would like it if I invested in Puebla, in the soccer team and even more in Puebla that is getting more beautiful and better than ever.
Mexican soccer slowly is rolling out regulations to prevent owners from controlling multiple teams, but Chargoy says he's willing to sell Puebla or Chiapas, a club that has struggled to pay its wage bill.
"We'll stay with one of the teams," Chargoy told Futbol Picante. "We're listening to offers and if there's a group that says they're interested by this or by that, we'll listen to them."
