A WEEK after running into an uncompromising Ben Simmons and the rising power of his Philadelphia 76ers, NBL champions Melbourne United get another shot at toppling an NBA team when they take on the Toronto Raptors.

Last year's Eastern Conference top seed, the Raptors have retooled and added the mercurial talents of former San Antonio Spur Kawhi Leonard - hoping he can partner with Kyle Lowry to take them to the next level.

Chris Goulding is expected to overcome an ankle injury which forced him out of the clash loss to the 76ers and lead Melbourne against the Raptors at Scotiabank Arena on Friday (Saturday 9am AEST).

Expect another impressive showing frmo United’s centre Alex Pledger, who top-scored against the 76ers with 19 points and 13 rebounds - while Goulding had 13 points, despite his shortened 19-minute stint.
