SOUTH Australian cricket star Megan Schutt again impressed with the ball for Australia as the green and gold took an unassailable 2-0 lead in its one-day international series against Pakistan.

The Australians, who made 7/273 in their 50 overs, bowled Pakistan out for 123, winning the 50-over game by 150 runs.

On Malaysia’s Kinrara Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Schutt again proved why she was the world’s No. 2 ranked ODI bowler, taking two wickets for 25 runs.

Pakistani opening batter Nahida Khan put up some resistance to the Aussie bowling assault, making a handy 66, but she simply didn’t have enough support from the others who joined her at the crease.

Earlier in the day, Australia won the toss and elected to bat.

A century to captain Meg Lanning set up the Australian innings perfectly before she was caught on 124.

Another to contribute to the run tally was Rachael Haynes who made 79 from 82 balls, while openers Alyssa Healy and Nicole Bolton made 16 and 18 respectively.

The win takes Australia to a 2-0 lead in the three-match ICC Women’s Championship 50-over series. The final match will be played tomorrow (OCT 22).

On October 25, the Australians will then start preparations in earnest for their assault on the T20 World Cup as they play the first of three T20Is against Pakistan.

The Australians then head straight on to the Caribbean for the Women’s T20 World Cup starting on November 9.
