WEST Coast premiership ruckman Scott Lycett needs only to pass a medical on his troublesome hip to call Port Adelaide home in 2019.

Lycett is expected to fly to Adelaide on Thursday morning for talks with the Power and his family before returning to Perth on Friday to meet with the Eagles ahead of the John Worsfold Medal.

Manager Colin Young has declined to comment on his 26-year-old client’s future until talks have concluded.

Lycett has been tipped to depart since mid-season, but has made no announcement.

He has spent the past four days celebrating last weekend’s stirring grand final win over Collingwood with teammates.

Seven West Media understands Port have already taken a look at Lycett’s hip and want to run one last check in the wake of the grand final.

A clean bill of health is expected.

The Power would then make official an offer for Lycett to join them for up to five-year deal worth in the vicinity of $3 million.

With Lycett being a restricted free agent, the Eagles have the right to match the offer, but they are not expected to, allowing the ruckman to return to his home State and reunite with Port Adelaide, who he played for in the SANFL.

Speaking in the change rooms after the grand final, Lycett stressed he wanted to take time to enjoy the Eagles premiership before any announcement on his future.

“That will all take care of itself in the next few days, so I am just going to enjoy a grand final win because it doesn’t come around very often,” he said.

Lycett is one of two West Coast restricted free agents being courted by rival clubs ahead of the annual free agency and exchange period.

Prolific midfielder Andrew Gaff is weighing up whether to stay at West Coast or return to his home State of Victoria and accept a massive offer from North Melbourne.

Gaff’s manager Paul Connors scoffed at suggestions yesterday morning that the left-footer had informed teammates he was leaving for the Kangaroos.

Connors stressed he was not aware of any decision from Gaff, but the dual All-Australian’s future is likely to become clear in the next few days.

The Eagles have already held talks with Western Bulldogs premiership big man Jordan Roughead, St Kilda’s Tom Hickey and Greater Western Sydney forward/ruck Rory Lobb in anticipation of needing to bolster their ruck stocks for next year.

West Coast’s No.1 ruckman Nic Naitanui ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament in round 17 and is expected to miss the bulk of the 2019 season.

Both WA clubs continue to court Lobb, who is contracted for 2019, but has indicated he is happy to either come home to Western Australia or stay with the Giants if the right deal can’t be reached.

The Giants are looking for salary cap relief and have allowed both Lobb and star midfielder Dylan Shiel, who has been courted by four Melbourne-based clubs, to explore their options.

Fremantle are poised to add former first-round draft choice, Richmond midfielder Reece Conca, in free agency.
