Hayley Matthews and Stacy-Ann King have returned to the Windies side for the upcoming tour of Ireland and England, while the veteran duo of Anisa Mohammed and Merissa Aguilleira have been excluded from the 14-member squad.

Matthews had suffered a medial collateral ligament last December while playing for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Women's Big Bash League and missed the tour of Pakistan. She has been named deputy to Stafanie Taylor for the tour. King, on the other hand, has stormed her way back to the national side on the back of some impressive performances in the domestic 50-over and 20-over tournaments. The left-arm pace bowling all-rounder had last played for Windies in the 2016 World T20.

"Stacy Ann King's return to the West Indies Women's team to tour Ireland and England is no real surprise after her performance during the recently concluded Colonial Medical Insurance Women's Super50 Cup and CWI's T20 Blaze tournaments," Robert Haynes, CWI's interim chairman of selectors, said on Thursday. "Her experience is very vital in this very crucial series against England, a series that we must win, so her ability to bowl good left arm swing will be an added dimension to our bowling attack."

He added the Anisa and Aguilleira's run of poor form was the reason behind their exclusion. "Anisa Mohammed and Merissa Aguilleira's performances in the recent women's championships weren't what we expected or how we wanted them to perform, so unfortunately they were not picked on this touring squad," he said. "There are other ladies who are vying for these coveted spots, we have three other wicketkeepers who have all been scoring consistently thereby outperforming Merissa."

Shabika Gajnabi, Sheneta Grimmond, Reniece Boyce, Britney Cooper, Shanika Bruce and Shawnisha Hector have been named in the reserves. They will join the squad for a training camp in Antigua, which is set to take place from May 6 to 20.

The tour which is set to start with a three-match T20I series against Ireland from May 26-29, will be followed by three ODIs against England - as part of the ICC Women's ODI Championship - and three T20Is from June 6-25.
